It is another chapter in the story of a woman who believed deeply in helping others. Every item has been part of a story. Now, the estate will help continue a legacy of giving. The Davie Community Foundation is honored to carry forward the charitable wishes of Barbara Ford and her remarkable legacy as a true Secret Angel. Some of the greatest acts of kindness happen quietly, without recognition and without expecting anything in return. That was Barbara “Barb” Ford. For years, Barb quietly supported people, animals, and organizations throughout the community through her donor-advised Secret Angel Fund at the Davie Community Foundation. She never needed recognition—she simply wanted to help. Following Barb’s passing in July 2026, her generosity continues. Barb left her estate to the Davie Community Foundation to create lasting support for two organizations especially important to her: IMPACT of the Piedmont and Operation Rising Sun. Through the sale of Barb’s estate, the items she collected and cared for during her lifetime will now help continue the generosity that defined her life. Proceeds from the estate will help fulfill her charitable wishes and strengthen the organizations she chose to support. Barb’s generosity touched many organizations over the years, including the Davie Family YMCA, Davie Center for Violence Prevention, Just HOPE, the Davie County Sheriff’s Office K-9 program, Godbey Creek Canine Rescue, and the Humane Society of Davie County. She had an especially strong heart for animals and for helping people who needed someone in their corner.
